Unheard Voices Tour 2008Chicago, October 11th
We are sorry to inform you that the Drishtipat Unheard Voices Concert scheduled for October 11th in Chicago has had to be cancelled.
The USCIS delayed approval of the P3 petition required to for Arnob and his band to perform in the US. While the P3 has subsequently been approved and Arnob is in the final stages of securing the US visa, the delays had put the first scheduled US concert in Chicago in jeopardy. After careful consideration of available options, we’ve decided to cancel the October 11th show in Chicago. The concerts scheduled for Washington D.C, New York,Toronto and London will, however, go ahead as planned (see http://www.drishtipat.org/concert2008/ ).
For those of you who have already purchased tickets, we have made arrangements for the North Shore Center for Performing Arts to issue a full refund including any service fees you may have paid.
Despite your disappointment some of you have asked how you may continue to support Drishtipat’s good causes. The Chicago causes for 2009 are:
Drishtipat Challenge, a program that funds social entrepreneurship in Bangladesh and
Child Domestic Worker Rights to increase public awareness and support existing programs in Bangladesh.
If you would like to make a tax-deductible contribution to Drishtipat you may do so by sending us a check to:
Drishtipat, 540 E. Hickory St, Hinsdale, IL 60521 or to donate online Click Here .

Bangla Mayer Bir Meyera - International Mother Language Day
commemoration to benefit war women survivors of 1971 |
|
Held on March 21, 2004
( Directions to the Event )
Ekushe February (21st February) commemorates the sacrifices made for the Bengali language movement of 1952 that culminated in the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War. Now recognized by UNESCO as International Mother Language Day across the world, Ekushe February is a time to remember and rejoice for the mother language each one of us holds dear.
Join Drishtipat Chicago for an afternoon of remembrance, music, food and a screening of an award winning film - Shei Rater Kotha

Our collective recollection of this great heritage is fading. One particular shortcoming is the consistent failure to recognize the role of women in the Bangladesh Liberation War. In fact, the role of women is largely ignored, denied and misconstrued in our mainstream history. Guest speaker Dr. Capt. (Retd) Sitara Begum is one of only two women to be awarded the Bir Protik by Bangladesh for gallantry in the 1971 war.
Join Drishtipat for a brief journey through this history. The program will benefit seven women veterans of great courage who are now living in extreme poverty. Learn more about Ammerjan Bewas and the Women of 1971 campaign here.
