Arnob
(Shayan Chowdhury) first joined the well known and groundbreaking Bangla Band in 1998, and launched his solo career in 2005. A multi-instrumentalist in the studio, onstage he is a vocalist and guitarist.

Dhrubo
(Resalat Rasheed) is the band’s bassist. He has been working with Arnob since 2006 and also features in the line-up of well-known local fusion bands Ajob and Purbo Poschim.

Nazrul
(Nazrul Islam) is the dhol player. Starting at the age of 8, he has a reputation as one of the finest dhol players in the country. He has extensive international performing experience (Germany, Malaysia, Dubai, UK, Netherlands), and has been working with the band for around five years.

Jibon
(Tarek bin Taher Akhanji) began drumming in 1989 and has been working with Arnob for three years. A regular session musician with a range of jazz, pop and folk bands, he has also performed extensively in Bangladesh.

Andrew
(Andrew Morris) is a Welsh saxophonist whose sound adds a fusion element of Western jazz to the group. He has played and recorded with several musicians in Bangladesh and has been performing with Arnob for 18 months.

Nazia
(Nazia Ahmed) is the group's backing vocalist. Trained in both Bengali Classical and Folk traditions she has won national prizes for classical singing, and performed in Bangladesh and Nepal. She has featured on compilation CDs, and has recently won a British Council scholarship to study music in the UK. She has been singing with the group for 2 years.

What distinguishes Funkadesi as a group is each band member’s unique and uncompromised cultural/musical contribution merging to create one unifying sound and vision. Funkadesi’s one-world sound, roots-watering vision, and positive vibe make the band a unique and compelling musical force.
