ARNOB, the most talented indie musician in Bangladesh, returns to London after two long years. This time with all his musical mates in tow, for yet another sell-out concert.
Well established as a solo artist with three successful and acclaimed CDs (Chaina Vabish 2005, Hok Kolorob 2006, Doob 2008), Arnob is without doubt the most creative and accomplished musician on the Bangladeshi contemporary scene.
Arnob’s repertoire features an eclectic mix of his own contemporary compositions and Bengali folk songs interpreted through modern eyes.
- ANDREW, (Andrew Morris) is a Welsh saxophonist whose sound adds a fusion element of Western jazz to the group. He has played and recorded with several musicians in Bangladesh and has been performing with Arnob for 18 months.
- NAZRUL, (Nazrul Islam) is the dhol player. Starting at the age of 8, he has a reputation as one of the finest dhol players in the country. He has extensive international performing experience (Germany, Malaysia, Dubai, UK, Netherlands), and has been working with the band for around five years.
- DHRUBO, (Resalat Rasheed) is the band’s bassist. He has been working with Arnob since 2006 and also features in the line-up of well-known local fusion bands Ajob and Purbo Poschim.-
JIBON - (Tarek bin Taher Akhanji) began drumming in 1989 and has been working with Arnob for three years. A regular session musician with a range of jazz, pop and folk bands, he has also performed extensively in Bangladesh.
- NAZIA - (Nazia Ahmed) is the group's backing vocalist. Trained in both Bengali Classical and Folk traditions she has won national prizes for classical singing, and performed in Bangladesh and Nepal. She has featured on compilation CDs, and has recently won a British Council scholarship to study music in the UK. She has been singing with the group for 2 years.

We are also thrilled to announce that we have assembled a veritable galaxy of London-based artists to bookend Arnob's band. Among them are, in no particular order:

- ZOE RAHMAN-
Zoe Rahman has been hailed by the Observer as 'one of the finest pianists in Europe'. Her second album 'Melting Pot' was nominated for the prestigious Mercury Music Prize. She has just released her follow-up album 'Where Rivers Meet', which is a collaboration with her brother Idris featuring jazz-inspired versions of well-known Bengali music by the likes of Rabindranath Tagore, Jasim Uddin and Hemant Mukherjee, among others. She regularly tours both in the UK and internationally with her own band as well as working with many other artists.

- IDRIS Rahman - clarinetist and flautist (Soothsayers)
Where Rivers Meet, Zoe's new CD, finds Rahman collaborating with her brother, clarinettist, Idris Rahman, with whom she has also worked in his band Soothsayers. Idris who has also worked with the likes of Arun Ghosh, Mad Professor, Osibissa and Dodgy is also a noted engineer, working with Julia Biel, Basquiat Strings and of course Zoe Rahman. Together they have conjured some unique, jazz-inspired interpretations of Bengali music, including the songs of Rabindranath Tagore, Abbasuddin and Hemanta Kumar Mukherjee amongst others. Neither strictly speaking jazz nor world-music, the Rahmans' original take on Bengali popular music offers up a unique new form of Anglo-Asian music: beautiful improvised music that is utterly compelling in its brilliant meeting of musical worlds.
