Drishtipat, Boston will have an information booth at the BU Jamnesty on Friday, Jan 27th, '06. Please come join us for more information about the organization and to learn more about getting involved.

Boston University Amnesty International's third annual benefit concert, Jamnesty, will feature soulful music, dramatic dance and edifying discussion on human rights issues.

Bands performing include alternative indie band Eyes Like Knives, Berklee band Radio Knights, acoustic singer-songwriter Brian Bergeron, Indie powerpop Fly Upright Kite, and the world traveling "afro-diasporic," funk band, Soulfege.

Aside from bands, the event will include a write-a-thon and speaker, BU Professor of Sociology, Dr. Nazli Kibria, who will speak about her dealings with human rights issues in Bangladesh and show a short film about her experiences.

Additionally, several BU performance groups will entertain with song and dance. This event is open to the public. All proceeds benefit the Amnesty International Northeast Regional Office based in Somerville. Cost: $5


Drishtipat Issues Bird Flu Alert

Studies from China on Nov 28, 2005, report that bird flu virus in human has mutated, raising a red flag that demands urgency in response. Drishtipat is issuing this alert for immediate attention as Bangladesh is alarmingly unprepared to handle this crisis. Millions of people are at risk of dying. Please read the full alert and share with friends and colleagues.

Earthquake in South Asia: Join the Relief Efforts

In light of the devastation in the South Asian region following the recent earthquake, particularly in northern Pakistan and India, Drishtipat Boston would like to appeal to its members to step forward and help the suffering victims.

A Worldwide Candlelight Vigil will be held at Harvard Square, Cambridge, MA 02139.

Drishtipat Boston will compile ongoing relief efforts, so that you can participate in the various local clothing drives, fundraising initiatives and other relief oriented projects. Participate in Drishtipat Boston's Earthquake Relief Project.


Drishtipat Boston Chapter Launch

Drishtipat is a non-profit, non-partisan volunteer organization, composed of students and young professionals worldwide, committed to safeguarding human rights in Bangladesh through action-oriented projects that provide direct assistance to those individuals whose voices remain unheard today. Despite heavy rain, the Launch Event was well attended and quite well received among the audience. There was a significant international presence, with a good mix of individuals from various educational and professional backgrounds.
