New York, USA, May 5th
Adhunika, Drishtipat and NYBAP invite you to the screening of “Deshantori” (The Migrant). The widely acclaimed film, by and for youth, tells the heartrending story of 26 young Bangladeshis who risked their lives in search of a better future and undertook a perilous journey to Spain through the Sahara Desert and the Mediterranean Sea. This docudrama provides a candid glimpse into the minds of the Bangladeshi youth, exploring their deep frustrations with their current conditions along with their infallible optimism and national pride.
Washington DC, USA, May 9th
Drishtipat rep meeting Special envoy of caretaker government, Faruq Sobhan at an event organized by Hudson institute. The Hudson Institute is organizing the discussion with His Excellency Ambassador Farooq Sobhan, Special Envoy of the Government of Bangladesh. Mr. Sobhan, a distinguished statesman and diplomat, will provide insights into the current critical situation in Bangladesh and on the challenges this South Asian is facing on its path to the restoration of its democratic process.
Canberra, Australia, May 12th
Drishtipat Australia invites you to a public presentation by Dr. Sarwar,
a surgeon from Bangladesh currently in Sydney, on the impact corrective
surgery can have on the lives of people in remote areas of Bangladesh.
The presentation will be held on the* 12th of May, 3.00 pm Saturday at
the Faculty of Asian Studies, Baldessin Precinct Building Room
1.21 in the Australian National University.* The Asian
Faculty Building is on Ellery Cres. We look forward to seeing you at the
presentation.
Drishtipat Australia will hold its annual fund-raising event on October
20th, 2007. The funds raised will be used to finance medical teams who
will carry out free corrective surgery in remote areas of Bangladesh.
