Dissecting the speech, i have found an open challenge to Khaleda ZIA. Now Khaleda ZIA should state such kind of documentations as Sk Hasina stated here.
People will then find the difference between Khaleda Zia and Hasina ..

Self-serving garbage from a woman who had her own turn at ruling the country, and whose term as prime minister is still remembered 5 years later as a period of dreadful misrule, corruption and criminality.
If a leader condones or overlooks corruption and criminality among her lower ranks and underlings, s/he is almost equally guilty of these offences. Hasina and Khaleda are both yesterday’s news, both morally bankrupt and utterly discredited, and these are nothing but desperate and pathetic attempts to cling on to some shred of credibility and some hope (let’s extinguish it) of coming back to power at some point in the future. That’s the ultimate goal with these losers, whether they lead BNP or Awami League.

Neither of these two parties - at least with the current leadership at the helm, has distinguished itself as a party with firm principles and convictions.
There have been many somersaults with changing alliances, goals and objectives. Both have distinguished themselves as being morally corrupt and admistratively inept - BNP to a greater degree certainly.
As ones who advocate democratic principles and methods, none of them should have a problem with Dr. Yunus trying it out in politics. Of course, they both understand that the common people are ready for a change and with things going well for the Fakhruddin government, it will be very hard for AL to regain power. BNP I am afraid has absolutely no chance, specially if Tareque Zia gets arrested.
I frankly do want to see a change. It will only be good for democracy and BD - after all, neither the AL or BNP owns BD.

I think Mrs Shaikh Hasina has forgotten that her party’s GS Mr Jalil is also a ‘Shudh Khor’. And there are more AL leaders who are involved in Banking business. Mrs Hasina is doing the same mistake again; talking too much without thinking. We need thinker like DMY now! We had enough of H&K!
February 21st, 2007 at 1:35 pm
Her statement is more fiction than facts. A futile attempt to deny AL and her family’s failures which the country lived through over the past thirty five years.
Cheers

Sheikh Hasina is sometimes too emotional to organize her thougts in a logical manner. But I should say, her op ed did have some points. It is not acceptable to have blanket accusations against all the party men. If there is specific allegation or proof, you must say it specifically. AL should not be blamed for BNP’s wrongdoings, and BNP should not be called names for what AL did.
It is also true that ‘chorer list’ excludes ‘mohachors’. People like Saifur Rahman is left out of the list, L Babar is throwing dinner for the diplomats now and then, Tareq Rahman’s name is left out. I don’t also understand why Nanok, Mirza Azam or Sayeed Khokon’s name is on the list. Anyway let’s wait till the investigation finishes.
Another point she made is that corruption is not the solely performed by politicians. The business people, the buereaucrats, the professionals etc are all involved in the nexus. Even all the teachers/ doctors doing private practice/tuition evades taxes. It will be unwise to spare corrupt ppl from other sectors, at least the big guns should be held.
I commend her for her demand to catch the criminals and corrupt ppl in the last 35 years. She also admits that it would not have been possible for AL to catch the corrupt the way the CG is doing it now.
Sheikh Hasina has given a summary of her family members, what they did and what they are doing now. We should congratulate her for the courage she has shown in writing the op ed.
She has tried to defend her party and govt, which is also very natural. So if you don’t agree with any of her claims, you should point it out specifically. No blanket comments please.

Blame 50 percent to BNP, 50 percent to AL:
Sheikh Hasina try to say that only corrupt politician should be blamed. Not every politician.
She tries to explain every event in favor of her party. This is natural. She does not mention corruption and misrule in her party rule.
Present caretaker govt. is the result of long AL agitation. What Al demands before, it is implemented by 120 percent (Like election commission reconstruction ,change in administration ,cancellation 22nd January election, cancellation of voter list)
We should not blame 50 percent to BNP, 50 percent to AL.
Finally, I thank her that she expresses her message in writings.

It is not right to be so easily dismissive. I have not read it in detail. Printed a copy to read in detail tonight. There are a number of issues she raises are historically accurate and worthy of consideration with empathy. More later!

You are right Robin bhai. I made this point before. Hasina has a big mouth and lack of respect to people. But I would never accuse her or her family to be personally involved in corruption. AL has been in power only 5 years in the last 30 years and she and her family should not be lumped into the same category as BNP and Zia family. I have met the Shaikh Rehana’s son Bobby and Tulip here in London on a few occassions in different events. Shaikh Mujib would have been proud to have such grand son and grand daughter. They are also very political, intelligent and humble. To accuse the Shaikh family of personally gaining through corruption will be a great injustice to them. They have sacrificed their whole family for Bangladesh. Let’s not forget that fact. Imagine something like that happening to your family. Could you be rational and non emotional after that?

It would have been nice if she’d admit to a few wrong doings during her and ‘72-’75 era. A little remorse would have made this statement more credible. One has to turn a skeptic eye on this self gratifying assertion that AL rule and the SK family has been God’s gift to Bangladesh.
Some of her claims seemed a little exaggerated and need to be verified. For example, the increase in power generation to 4600 mw. The peak hour power shortage is almost 1500 mw now when we need around 5000 mw. PDB claims that it has the capacity of 4900 mw but the actual power generation has never exceeded 3500 mw (this is what we know from DP research during ‘Kansat’ project). Also, it will be hard to make people of this country accept the notion that SK Kamal was some sort of an angel.
She needed to revisit AL’s role during the Ershad regime (particularly, ‘86 election, and ‘88 movement) and it is also childish to imply that the election has been rigged everytime AL lost. Once again, AL’s attempt to take credits for the actions of this CTG/IG is ridiculous. I have extreme sympathy for the loss of her family and agree that the killers should be punished. But I am not willing to give her anymore leverage on that account - she has played the sympathy card way too many times for political gains.
But it was a bold move and a very well articulated statement. I congratulate her for this effort to clarify her stance. This is a good practice. Khaleda Zia should do the same and show some respect to the people of the country and explain the allegations brought against her, her family, and BNP.

Hasina write about avoiding blanket accusations. I can see here that many have done just that.
Besides some historic events, two things struck me immensely in her editorial:
1. BNP turned every possible rock to find flaws of the AL government - both at home and abroad. They could not find anything.
2. A publisher author, Hasina again shows that she is academic enough to write publishable materials. Regardless of political alliances, it would be nice to see more of our leaders show their academic sides.
February 21st, 2007 at 11:41 pm
I agree that Hasina’s most family members and relatives are honest and ideal citizen, which one shoule be prouf of, but what about the allegations against Abul Hasnat Abdullah and Shaikh Helal?

Thanks God that she wrote an op-ed instead of talking, at least it takes time to write things and she can go back and edit the offensive words we are used to hear from her.
There is nothing new in that piece of writing of her except claiming victimhood. May be she should try something different. We are tired of those “Jatir Bibeker Kache Proshno” type of articles of hers to potray the “golden rule” of her family.
It is interesting to see how she avoided the issues during her daddy’s tenure.
Aside of the usual Zia bashing, she should thank him also for restoring multi-party system which helped AL to reborn after being abolished with the introduction of Bakshal. It is nauseating how she cushions the idea of BAKSHAL, a bloody chapter in the history of our country. Our Madam also forgot to mention her role in the coup lead by Ershad and the betrayal in the election of 1986.
Her support for Abul Hasnat Abdullah”. What was the role of Sheikh Helal in the killing of Kalidas Boral, a MINOTITY who became a threat to his political career? Ironically, this is the same Sheikh Helal who was about to be assassinated while he was a student in Jhenaidah Cadet College but was saved due to impromptu decision by the Principal of that college. What about Sheikh Naser, who is more known to us “Naser Khora” who was caught while smuggling Blades in the truck but had to be released because he was Shaikh Mujib’s brother.
Amen..

SK Hasina is now trying to convince us how she has promoted corruption free politics in BD. Let us not forget that AL had unofficially nominated people like Abul Hasnat Abdullah, Shamim Osman, and Jainal Hazari’s sister for the January 22nd election with the complete backing of SK Hasina. She had also backed Jainal Hazari for the longest time.
And what about people like Dr. Iqbal and Mokbul Hossain?
February 22nd, 2007 at 4:26 am
well Zub I just want to ask you some thing . Do you have any data or statistics in your hand to prove that she and her family destroyed the country? You know what I always mentioned in my writing Say white to white or gray to gray. Now I need to point out about comments of Sheikh haseena on 2001
election
None will agree with me but I will claim 2001 election should be under investigation. what was the roll of administration in the period of election? 90 and 96 election were almost acceptable to every one. But If one major party is 100% sure about manupulation, they must have some logic behind that. and if any type of irregularity was going on this election Govt should take immediate actions against EC or CTG of 2001 and If Claim of AL wrong
They have to say sorry to the people of this country. I remember the comments of Editor of the Bhorer Kagoj Shamayal Dutta that
once Barrister Nazmul Hudda told we have got the verdict of the people so we can do or undo any thing. He questioned how secured our democracy is to such leaders.
3 million people dedicated the life for this country. We can’t make Jimmy our political system to corrupt Political traders or Burocrets.
I am agreed with sheikh Haseena . 2001 election was the root of all evils. Now question
Is who were the Frankenstein? Who created the Monster? We people, Administrations
Or Army?
We have to find this answers for our future generations? Now there is true Neutral.
This is the right time . This is the only way to establish self respect in politics.
This is the right time . Now or Never. This is my personal opinion.

I do not think BNP or AL deserve power but then aain who do we have to replace these people. I see AL is now chomping at the reigns of power. Perhaps they see an opportunity with all the BNP theives in jail.
People of Bangladesh forget so easily though. They would rather vote for the Zia family or the Shiek family rather than policies or objectively.
Perhaps they deserve people like them.
I hear some quarters are making a lot of noise about the sanctity od the constipation, sorry constitution and Demoncracy.
It did not bother them before. BNP is even contemplating settling for oppostion to avoid complete obliteration. Anything to keep their noses in the trough.
If Tareq Zia is not arrested then all this is academic and farcical. Bet your life, the first thing either of these parties will do once in power is carry out a vendetta against the opposition and their accusers and secondly, undo all that CG has done.
It will be all back to corruption as usual. What are the chances of moving away from “Geeta or Seeta” politics in Bangladesh?
With these two families in power, I see no hope. They are both stuck in a time warp. One in 70s another in the 80s. Both living on the reputation of their respective dead (father/husband)founders.
The reality is they do not have any policies or prospect to offer the people of Bangladesh. They are the zombies of the liveing dead, out to suck us dry.

Joint force yesterday arrested contractor Nuruzzaman who filed case against Saifur Rahman. Does any one know what is his actual fault? Nuruzzaman was arrested during BNP regime because he raised corruption charge against Naser Rahman. Now Naser Rahman is arrested on corruption charge. Today’s Jamaat newspaper ‘NoyaDigonto’claimed that Nuruzzaman is a knwon terrorist.
Interesting thing is that police did not take Nuruzzaman’s case against Saifur. Saifur is former boss of CA Fakhruddin.

Some steps are really confusing Washim.
Basically Prothom-alo published the interview
Of NuruZZaman but he is arrested. Babul of Jugantor has been arrested but Still Lutfur Zaman Babar is moving on free air.Roll of barrister Moinul Hussain is really confusing

I do not think. sk mujib and his family were honest. Having 3 crore and 300 bhori jewelry in 70’s is like 3000 cr now. In addition, the family went after honest officers who disagreed with them and humilated them. Only Allah(swt) knows that. Disagreement meant Rajakar in those times
