Heart of diamonds
A Bangladeshi cab driver residing in New York made headline today for showing this materialistic society that there is still no better glory than honesty.

Osman Chowdhury, who came to New York 15 years ago leaving his job as a contractor in Bangladesh, dropped off a female passenger last Monday to her destination and received a tip of 30 cents. Later in the day he found out that she left a suitcase in the trunk of the cab that carried 31 diamond rings. He knew exactly what he had to do. He consulted with the New York Taxi Workers Alliance, a drivers’ advocacy group, and then used the phone number in the luggage tag to track the passenger down.
This is what he had to say about the incident:
“All my life, I tried to be honest, …today is no different…. I’m not going to take someone else’s money or property to make me rich. I don’t want it that way.”
Isn’t it interesting that the majority of the elected officials in Bangladesh think exactly the opposite way, and think they can loot public money just because they can.
I hope Osman Chowdhury will go back to Bangladesh, and run for a seat in the parliament in the next election. Bangladesh desperately needs people like Osman in the Shangshad and in the PM’s cabinet.
