i think the real figure is much higher, harder to count. yes we are a crule people when we want to be. we are even crueler when presenting statistics.
eg
The data collection and presentation needs improvement. its bad science sad because a lot of work has gone into it.
The survey uses newspapers and human rightist data, which is probably skewed anyway in outlook and social reach.
4 people vicimised because of islamic fundamentalism. less than 0.2 %. Check the fundo box.
~300 by law enforcement. less than 10%, a scarey 10 % nonetheless. check the RAB box.
check the self preservation box.
but around 70% for miscellaneous reasons. thats ridiculous to say there was no pattern in that 70% box. are they saying that that are that socialy unperceptive? or that they only highlight whats obvious.
Do we not have any decent criminologists? why leave this to ameteurs?
sorry, I just want better data, i know its hard. does anyone have the actual report address?

hi, from poland! i found your post on the Global Voices website…this latest post of yours about law enforcement killings made me do some research about usa (my home country), this is what i found:
“According to the Justice Department’s Bureau of Justice Statistics, police kill between 300 and 400 people each year. After peaking at nearly 450 police killings of civilians in 1994, the number declined to just over 300 in 2000 before climbing again to about 370 last year. Only a tiny fraction of police killings are found by police to be questionable; most are found to be “justifiable homicides.” In only a tiny fraction of cases are officers indicted in a killing, and then, only a tiny fraction are convicted.
here is an interesing link with graphs: http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/homicide/justify.htm
it seems that bangladeshi police do kill more people as a proportion of the population than in usa, but how many of these are “justified” killings?
