I guess it would be too much to ask for our Police and other law enforcement officers in Bangladesh to maintain this same high standard in our own country!

Unfortunately this same armed forces are not welcome in Bangladesh election, at least not to current opposition Awami League.

The Daily Star ponders:
“In such a free society where women dress casually and are often seen topless, one can only wonder how our troops have maintained such a record since landing there in 2003.”
Well, has it occurred to them to think that those soldiers might be gay?

Muhamad: I don’t think I have heard any complaints from the men regarding misbehaviour by Bangladeshi troops. Have you?
Regardless of sexual orientation, the fact remains that Bangladeshi soldiers have performed admirable. It is a credit to the nation.

Yes, dear Rahat, kudos to them for doing a fine job. On my last visit to Bangladesh I did talk with some soldiers who happen to be from the same region as Ershad. I found them to be polite. Compared to Pakistan, Bangladesh has done well in not having a coup d’etat for quite sometime now. Perhaps the Bangladeshi armed forces have come to realise something of the value of civil society?
The other thing that I didn’t put in the above equation is that if they are not gay, they might have a fear of beautiful black women?

Knock on the wood, Bro. What they did in Australia, I am very skeptical, someday we might hear news in the line Muhamad mentioned.
